Irvington Farmer’s Market

David and I are crazy about the Irvington’s Farmers Market. We buy most of our weekly organic vegetables, fruits and mushrooms there. Farmers markets are great for the environment!! They provide locally grown produce (no wasted packaging or long distance driving) and they even sell organic products (no pesticides used).

Irvington Farmer’s Market is one of the biggest in the Bay Area and as you can tell super popular. It is supposed to start at 9:00a.m., but by 8:45 a.m. it is already packed to the rim. It is an exciting, happening place to be. I recommend that everyone should visit their local farmers market. It is really a great experience! ;-)

Fresh Vegetables From Our Garden

Today, is a very exciting day for me. I started harvesting my own mini farm in my backyard. As you can see, I picked some delicious swiss chard, purslane and sage. For those of you who are not familiar with purslane, it is one of the best plants to eat. It is high in vitamin E and omega 3s. It is actually an edible weed that is said to contain 6x more vitamin E than spinach and 7x more beta carotene than carrots. It is becoming the craze with star chefs around the world.

I am excited to report that at lunch today, I created my own recipe using the fresh vegetables shown up above. Not only was my dish very delicious and gourmet, but it was also packed with high levels of vitamins, nutrients and omega 3s. I love cooking healthy!! It is such a high for me. I feel like I am giving my body what it needs.

Hope your day has been as exciting as mine. Until we meet again. ;)
Remember, treat your body right and it will thank you for a long time!!!
