Pictures of Our Adventure in Monterey

Below are some pictures that I took of our adventures in Monterey.
Here is a list of the pictures:

1. This is our apartment looking out of our sliding glass windows.
2. On the left is the sign for the Pacific Grove Butterfly Parade.
On the right is, The Works, a tea place that David and I went too.
3. A picture of a dog in Pacific Grove dressed as a butterfly.
4. This is where I work at.
5. Planet Gemini, is the comedy/nightclub place we went to last friday. And PassionFish is our favorite restaurant in Pacific Grove. They serve sustainable and organic food.
6. Amarin Thai, has very good thai food. It is located on Cannary Row.

Well, today has been a busy and fun day. We walked to Central Avenue Bakery for an organic breakfast and than we headed to Lover’s point to relax and talk. On the way back home we stopped at the Reebok Outlet and bought some shoes and clothes. Now we are going back out to Pacific Grove to check out a Japanese Tea Shop. Clear skies here. Another beautiful day in paradise.

Have a good day everyone.

Another Wonderful Week in Monterey!

Ahh, it is so GREAT here! Everyday after work, David and I head outdoors to experience the beauty of Monterey and Pacific Grove. Our apartment is only 2 to 3 blocks from Pacific Grove. So, it is easy to walk everywhere. And let me tell you we walk everywhere. We spend hours outside exploring everyday. By the way the picture up above is the kind of beauty we see when we run. Isn’t it fantastic! Let me give you the update for the week.

1. Monday: worked, ran by the beach, walked to Cannary Row where we enjoyed a carmel apple cider at Starbucks.

2. Tuesday: worked, headed to the downtown for the Farmer’s Market. Lots of Organic produce!! It was a blast.

3. Wednesday: worked, went to the Monterey Bay Aquarium to look at the kelp forest.

4. Thursday: worked, ran by the beach, walked down to Cannary Row for a Chocolate Lover’s Sundae at Ghiradelli’s. Ghiradelli has outside sitting overlooking the bay. It was wonderful to share a sundae with David as the sun was setting. The view was spectacular. It was a clear night.

5. Friday: worked, lifted weights at home, walked down to Cannary Row to Planet Gemini for Comedy Night and dancing afterwards. David and I watched 4 really good comedians and then we danced the night away.

6. Saturday: woke up early and walked to Pacific Grove for the Butterfly Parade. It was a lot of fun to see all the kids and some dogs dressed as butterflies. After the parade, we walked around the beautiful downtown of Pacific Grove and stopped for organic oolong loose leaf tea at a place called The Works. It was very relaxing. Then we walked home and a little while later walked to Cannary Row to eat lunch at Amarin Thai (across from the Monterey Bay Aquarium). It was a delicious meal.

The weather here is great today (blue skies and warm) and David and I are soon going to go for a 30 minute run along the beach. I love this place!! Tonight we are not sure what we are going to do. But we are sure we will do something. Well, my time indoors has come to an end. Time to go running.

Talk to you all later. Have a great week!

Monterey is Amazing!! :-)

David and I have been so busy enjoying Monterey that I’ve had no free time to write a blog. We have been here for a week and a half and we are already in love with everything this city has to offer. It is my ideal city to live in. Our duplex has amazing views of the bay and is only 4 blocks from Cannary Row and 6 blocks from the Aquarium. Plus the air here is rated an A. We are also only 3 blocks away from the bike/walking trail that goes along the ocean. David and I try to run 3-4 days a week on that trail. The views are breathtaking.

Work is also going well. I really like my coworkers. They are all very friendly.
So, it has been a week and half and we have done alot. We’ve gone to a bellydancing show, had hot chocolate at Ghiradelli, had carmel apple cider at Starbucks, went to the Aquarium to see the white shark, went to the Seafood and Art Festival, Farmer’s Market and had an amazing meal at Passionfish in Pacific Grove. Every night we also walk down to Cannary Row for about an hour, enjoying the beautiful ocean views and browsing the shops. The nightlife is amazing here. So many things are open. It has been great here! And now it is time for me to relax and drink some organic tea. Goodnight everyone and have a wonderful week. I know I will! :-)

Bahamas Vacation – Day Four!!

Sandyport Resort Pool

Guess what? Today happened to be another busy day. David and I literally spent 4 hours at the Fremont Toyota Dealership looking at cars and than buying a car. We ended up trading in David’s Ford Contour and buying a 2006 Toyota Corolla LE. So, far we are really digging our new car. It gets 30mpg on city streets and 38mpg on highway!! Really cool! Because we were at the dealership for a large part of our day, we ended up skipping lunch and going straight to dinner when we got home. I feel totally wiped out today. Buying a car can be really draining.

Well, Monterey is coming up and I haven’t packed yet! Ahhhhh!! It is going to be another busy day tomorrow. Saturday morning is our move in date. David and I are super excited. We are looking forward to experiencing the Monterey/Carmel area.

Okay, here is day four of the Bahamas vacation.
1. We woke up late and walked around the resort for a while.
2. Then we had lunch at Provence, our favorite restaurant.
3. After lunch, we headed over to the icecream shop and shared a small chocolate icecream.
4. Around 4:00p.m. we headed to the pool to relax and read.
5 At 7:00p.m. we went back to Provence and had a wonderful romantic dinner.

Well, that concludes day four of Bahamas. Time to go to sleep. Goodnight everyone.

Bahamas Vacation – Day Three!!

Sorry, about the lack of posts. It has been very busy here. David and I are getting ready to go down to Monterey for 3 months. We have been busy with our podcasts, taking care of the house and dealing with the last minute details of our living arrangements in Monterey. It has been a little stressful, but luckily now it is getting much better. I think tonight I will have time to “actually” read a few pages of my fantasy novel. Oh, what a joy! :-)

Well, back to Bahamas! Day three was Sunday and unfortunately all the shops and our favorite restaurant, Provence, was closed. So, we went into the city for food and entertaintment.

Here was the itineray:
1. In the morning, we attended our resort’s orientation. Donuts, coffee and water were served. We learned all about the tourist activities in Nassau.
2. Afterwards, we took a local bus into the city. It was $1 each way.
We had a great time walking around the streets (there was a lot of beautiful Jewelry shops). We ended up having lunch at a quaint little diner.
3. We arrived back at the resort around 4:00p.m. and then headed off to the pool to relax and read for an hour.
4. At 6:00p.m., a complimentary bus took us to Crystal Palace Casino. Since, our resort only had the Pub open, we thought we would have better luck with dinner at the casino. But we were wrong. We ended up eating at Sbarro’s. Let’s just say it didn’t sit well in our stomachs. As you know, I am not a big fan of greasy food.

Overall, the day went well! Okay, I have to go and relax. I will talk to you soon. One more day of the Bahamas vacation to go!

Bahamas Vacation – Day Two!!

Yesterday, was a very busy day and I didn’t have time to blog. Sorry, guys. Yesterday morning, I was working on my podcasts and in the afternoon David and I went to visit my brother in Palo Alto. We had a great time hanging out with him. :-)

Okay, lets move on to day two of our Bahamas vacation. Day two, Septemeber 9, happened to be our 5 year anniversary. Here is what we did on day two.

1. We woke up after 10 hours of sleep refreshed and ready to enjoy our day. For breakfast, we ate Organic Millet Bread and Organic Granola that I brought from home.
2. Then we decided to take a walk around the stores of the resort.
3. None of the resort restaurants were open in the afternoon, so we ended up sharing a medium size icecream for lunch. Let’s just say that we were very hungry when dinner came around.
4. Around 4:00p.m. we headed to the pool to relax and read for a few hours.
5. Our anniversary dinner, was at the same restaurant as yesterday, Provence. David had a delicious rack of lamb and I had a big salmon salad. We also each had a glass of wine with dinner. The meal ended with port, chocolate dessert and tea. We were at the restuarant for 3 hours. It was a fun, magical night that I will never forget. :-)

Well, time to get my day started. I have a lot of things to do today. Take care everyone.

The picture up above is where we had our anniversary dinner and the cake shown here was our anniversary cake.

Bahamas Vacation – Day One!!

Lunch at the Resort

Yes, we are back from paradise!! Bahamas was great! David and I had a fun, relaxing vacation. In the next few blogs I plan to write about what we did each day in Nassau, Bahamas. We were there for a total of 4 days. Ok, here we go.

On September 7 we took an overnight flight, on jetBlue, from San Jose to JFK and then on to Nassau. I probably slept about 2 to 3 hours on the airplane, so I was exhausted when we reached Nassau at 11:00 a.m (it is a 3 hour time difference from the west coast).

In Bahamas, September 8, 2006:
1. We took a taxi ride from the airport to our hotel (Sandyport Resort). Suprisingly, the taxi ride was relatively cheap. We were both happy about that.
2. Since it was going to take a few hours for our room to be ready and we were starving, we decided that we should probably go find some lunch. We ended up having lunch at a beautiful mediterranean restaurant overlooking the lagoon at the resort.
3. After lunch, we headed up to our room (it was ready by then) for a little snooze (I was so tired).
4. After napping for 2 hours, we headed to the pool to relax and read our books until 7:00pm. Ahhhh, paradise!
5. Since only two of the five restaurants were open at the resort (two owners were on vacation and the other restautant was under renovation), we headed back to the same restaurant that we went to for lunch for dinner. We sat outside and had a wonderful meal (by the way they had organic….a big plus for me) outside overlooking the lagoon. There was no rain but there was lightning that night. Very pretty! We ended the night sipping Organic Bergamot tea, which was made on the island. A wonderful end to our first day.

That my friends is the end of day one in Bahamas. Hope you all enjoyed the recap. Tomorrow will be day two. Have a great day everyone!!

Bahamas Here We Come!!

Bahamas Here We Come!!

Originally uploaded by tvansunder.

Today is the day!! Our flight leaves tonight and is an overnight flight. Hopefully, I will be able to sleep a little on the plane. :-) We arrive in Nassau, Bahamas the following day in the morning. Ahh, it is going to be so much fun, relaxing in paradise!!

Life is very exciting here for us. After Bahamas, David and I have to get ready to go to Monterey, California for an exciting 3 month stay. I’ve decided to take a 13 week assignment in Monterey. The company that I will be working for is going to put David and I in premium corporate housing for that time. It is going to be such a wonderful adventure. David and I plan to spend a lot of that time (when I am not working of course) exploring the area. I forsee myself spending a lot of time in Carmel and the Monterey Bay Aquarium. But don’t worry, I will keep you guys updated on our adventures.

But, let me not get too ahead of myself…first Bahamas. Well, I have a lot to do before we go. Take care and I will talk to you all later when we get back.

One More Day Till Bahamas!

Isn’t He Soooo Cute!

Originally uploaded by tvansunder.
Tomorrow, David and I are flying to Bahamas for a 5 day vacation. We will be celebrating our 5 year anniversay there! Both of us are looking forward to relaxing in paradise. It has been sort of hectic around here for the last few weeks. It would be nice just to get away for awhile and not do anything for a few days. I think I will bring two books along with me to read. That should be fun. I love to read!

Today, has been a semi-relaxing day. We went to the gym this morning and now I am just doing a little work and thinking of what I need to bring to the Bahamas.

A Note To David:

David, every year that we have been together has been absolutely amazing! You are the light in my life and I look forward to spending another 100 or more years with you. Happy anniversary!!

Forever Yours,
Talli

Have a good day everyone. And I will update you on our trip when I get back.

Harvest from the Garden!

Harvest from the Garden!

Originally uploaded by tvansunder.
Hi everyone. Did you miss me? Life has been pretty busy here. David and I have been working nonstop lately. We have a lot of different things going on in our lives. But, luckily things have settled down a bit and we are starting to have more free time to relax and do things like blog.

My mom came down with my brother last Thursday to visit. She helped my brother move in to his studio at Stanford. He is currently in his 2nd year of law school. It was a very nice visit and I enjoyed hanging out with my family, like always.

Dinner Using The Harvest From The Garden!

Originally uploaded by tvansunder.
Today for dinner, we had rotelle pasta topped with ingredients from the garden. Our garden this year has produced a variety of yummy organic treats. For dinner I used some organic fresh basil, sage, parsley, thyme, oregeno, cilantro, sweet cherry tomatoes, green onions and swiss chard. David and I gave the dinner two thumbs up. It was a healthy dinner full of nutrients and vitamins. Yummy to my tummy.

Well, I will keep you guys updated on the going ons around here.
Have a good night. Time for tea! :-)
